last night i finished my traqining for tilllate.com.
i loved it! Chris told me that he only trains people he feel actually apply for this job to do the photography- not for the perks like getting in places free, or the attention.
he said, 'its like doing a photography course, which you dont pay for, you get the hands- on experience and always have help in the mean time.'
last night i felt i learnt so much i didnt even know about my own camera. im so excited to have the first go on my own (bit scared too)
i need to practise, changing te apeture etc depending on the lighting situation.

In 2000 Someguy (that's his name) designed a series of beautiful covers to glue onto blank journal books. He sent these empty but tempting books out into the world for others to fill up with their own original and personal art, hoping a few books would make their way back to him. You could sign up on his website to be the next person to receive a book, and in that way the book's travels could be monitored. Sort of.
Someguy also asked his designer friends and design heroes to create covers for blank journals and soon he sent out a total of 1000 stunning hand-crafted journals into the wilds (at his own expense). Only one book has returned completed, even though online you can follow the path of many others on their way.
the ''1000 journals project'' was published and is almost a work of art itself, with occasional pages sewn with stiches or glued in artwork. i did decide to buy this book, its facinating to see how people in the world approached this project!

what the hell is lomography?

in the early 1990s a couple of students discovered a small, enigmatic russian camera, the Lomo Kompakti Automat, and created a new style of artistic experimental photography with their first unorthodox snapshot cavortings. The approach: taking as many photographs (Lomographs) as possible in the most impossible of situations possible and having them developed as cheaply as possible. The result is a flood of authentic, coulourful, crazy, off-the-wall, unfamiliar and often brilliant snapshots. These are mounted on panels to form a sea of thousands of Lomographs which regularly astonish viewers with their sheer colourfulness, diversity and power of expression.
Exhibitons, interactive projects, events and live visual performances have been the most significant forms of Lomographic communication for twelve years: The images, provided by ametures and visitors to the event, combined with the space, the exhibition architecture, the interactive programme and the international communication have become hallmark of Lomograhic projects.

where is all this going?
The Lomogrpahic society is busy beavering away with hundreds of thousands, soon to be millions of Lomograhers, on and n, on the perpetually ongoing Lomographicsysiphus projetc: the Lomography planet around us in a never- ending stream of a visual diary by various individuals and from different culturs- the ongoing and still growing biggest snapshot portrait of the planet.

this is the diana camera i've bought& i also recently got a fisheye one!
the pictures need developing and are yet to be posted on here...

along with taking pictures of the snow&my beatiful animals,i had a few photography jobs over the holidays. i have been being paid to take pictures in bars of people&the scene to show the atmosphere& promote the place. i love doing this as its what i do when i go out anyway. i decided to furthur this by taking more pictures of djs. i love how you can see them working, making the music& how i capture the light every time, its alwasy differen. ill put a selection of pictures on here but hopefully ill put more in a sketchbook.

Christmas

FINALLY i got myself the camera i've needed, no more borrowing uni cameras!
i now have a nicon D3000 (better than unis!) love it, it still comes everywhere with me even though its massive&managed to break the zip on my bag!
i spent most of Christmas taking pictures of the snow& the new kitten we got. hopefully i will have a collection of the 'small cat' pictures very soon!
i also bought myself a camera, which i hadnt heard of before but when i looked into it i thought it seemed amazing! is a Diana camera, a sort-of vintage style. you can take pictures square or rectangle. sunny or cloudy, night or day. iv not developed the pictures yet so im worried about what they will turn out like as it didnt come with a flash. but im excited!& the film i got was negative red-scale.
having this camera reminds me of being younger, i use to take a camera out with me all the time, got films developed& had piles of photos. i was always so excited to see what i'd captured and how they had turned out, it was a weekly thing to pick up the pictures.
i was also considering buying a fisheye camera- the lenses themselves are far too expensive for me! but like the diana the fisheye is £50, but first ill play about with my diana

snow

i love how we have had a 'white christmas' i love the snow& ice. i thought the snow had near enough disappeared. but as i was out in town last night, on my works christmas do, it began snowing! so i had a wonderful, but very cold walk home. as i stumbled in my heels i began to take photographs capturing the snow falling in front of the lense. it was quiet, no one around, it was late and i was the first to disturb the fresh layer of snow on the road.
i captured the hazey lighting and the layers of white resting on a tree. it really is beautiful.
i am going to make a collection of snowey photographs.
the image at the top is the view through my sisters bedroom window, you can see the snow under the ight of the lamp post, the focus is the 'i <3>
