after exploring the abandoned bulidings & photographing the quarry, my dad let me drive the toyota off road, around the quarry to the other side.
we climbed up a really steep hill- thought i was going to have a heart attack!
but the top was amazing. the view was over dorethia& a nearby quarry which apparently you cant get too...

some pictures of the graffiti&buildings

here are some of the pictures of the quarry

Dorethia

Dorethia itself is amazing. the landscape is beautiful.
as we arrived so early, no one had been there, the snow was fresh, untouched and the morning sun was bursting through the clouds.
the water in the quarry rippled. the reflection of the surrounding and the sky was crystal clear in the water.
dad showed me round& we parked up so he could go diving.
when he was in the water i went exploring with my dog, Tilly..
away from the quarry itself is like a forest-type area.. i found an old, abandoned building.it obviusly hadn't been used for years, trees engulfed it, ivory twisting through the brick work. none of the windows or doors were intact. there even seemed to be a stream running through it.
people had added to the demolishion, drinking cans littered the floor and graffiti covered the remaining walls. i really like the graffiti...its not really art but it is?! its a way of expressing views....
i lost myself for a bit here...just didnt stop taking photos!
i decided to head back when id been through the entire building& my feet had gotten cold from the snow.
as i arrived back at the car dad was coming out of the water.

exploring

saturday 20th feb
dad woke me up at 6.00am (ew)
not seen that hour in a while, unless i haven't been to sleep!
got in the car& headed to Wales. i don't know where abouts, i just know its a 2hour drive away.
tried sleeping as i'd only had 3hours. but it wasn't happening; the dog kept trying to creep on me to get a view out of the window.
i decided to record the things that were happening around me.
i wrote what i saw, the noises i could here, like the murmer of the engine and occasional movement of the windscreen wipers.
i wrote about the gradual change of the sky as it got later into the morning.
i wrote about what i could see out of the window, how the weather changed from spitting to snow and grey skys.
we drove aong the coast line, towards the snow covered mountains.
we were aiming for a quarry my dad knows well, called Dorethia..
he goes diving there& knows the area well.
i found a map of the area. ill copy it into my sketchbook..

I NEED TO START THE ESSAY

diana shit

yes i still havent developed my diana pictures...
this is because i read that like none of the pictures come out without that ridiculous flash....SO i went on amazon, firstly found the diana for half the price i paid...but also found the flash i needed was like the same price AS the camera!!
so now im waiting on a cheaper one which i doubt will actually fit the camera...
i havent taken anymore on my fisheye im waiting for something...dont know what..
SO im slightly annoyed with the amount of money iv spent and the crap resukts so far!

mapping

for our journals we we're given the task to do 'mapping.'
This was like a mind map about me, all the areas which affect my life and work, inspirations, places i've visited, what i like& dislike.
I found it very helpful in the way in which it shows so much about me and reminds me what i can achieve.
At the moment though i feel like i've lost most of my inspiration, i haven't done much work in a while. most of my time has been taking and editing pictures for tilllate which i do really enjoy. Any way, i know i need to chance this and 'get inspired' so i started a new sketchbook, just so i draw everyday, it has nothing to do with anywork i will do, its just so i keep working. even if its a page a-day i have a feeling it will help.
on saturday i have arranged with my dad to go to wales at a ridiculously early hour.. he goes diving in a quarry somewhere and said theres lots to photograph. like old wells&the quarry itself... so im hopping this will lead to a project to d with the environment and distruction....

eugh....valentines day

these are some of the photos i took!!
i really enjoyed doing this, at the begining i was really nervous but in the end had fun and took over a hundred pictures. these are a few of my favourite.
but in tilllate.com pictures of the people within the clubs are needed mostly, i just managed to caputre a few decent ones of the djs!

Monday, 1 February 2010

last week all of the interactive arts group had to do individual presentaions on the work done so far throughout the term.
i hate sepaking out infront of people, but luckly there was only a small group of us and i just managed to complete the ten minutes.
i felt it was useful to go through my work, pulled my ideas and thoughts together and it was helpful having group opinons on the direction to take next.
i was happy to see that some people had done little work and some had done loads.
and its helped me feel a bit more inspired to do some more work. i just need to get out there and take more photos but also include other areas im good at such as painting.
ive written done my next ideas and hopefully will continue with previous ones throughout. i just need to take lotsmore photos!

Tonight is the first night of doing 'tilllate' by myself!
im scared. my trainer said i should be fine, i know what im doing&its what i usually do!
last wednesday i met the manager of the enitre company, carl, in the circle club. we went on his laptop& we talked about 'good' photos & how to edit them.
He made the job seem so much more important than my trainer, chris; he scared me a bit! saying, 'if the photos are shit, we won't have you&the photos reflect you as a person& if people know you took a shit photo they wont want you.'
As you do more photo reports the higher in the company you can get, resulting in extra training, more hands-on experience and you can be asked to take pictures at more important events. But must take at least 4photo reports in a month!
Carl also told me that tilllate has its own magazine where you can publish the best photos& they have ongoing competitions for the best photographs!
so tonight is the first time on my own!

i finally got my fisheye pictures developed...
but because i took most of them at night using a negative red-scale film they didnt turn out as id expected
im not dreading the diana results as that camera doesnt even have a flash!
