DegreeFinal

MY final piece! the screen doesnt do it justice BUT ive had lots of test prints, different sizes and materials and decided that an A1 matte was the most suited. It looks great. i had it sent out from theprintspace.com. i decided having the singular shot up was the most effective and the image i had selected definitely produced the effect i had been searching for. i spent lots of time prepareing my space, filling holes, sanding & painting. i also had to decide how my photograph would be put on the wall, but eventally decided that if using a frame id detract from the focus of the image& the matte material. i have mounted my work on mount bored & velcrowed to the wall. prior to this i had a lot of issues within printing- my back up print was the wrong resolution & i had to learn how to solve these issues & use photo shope within editing- basically not using jpegs so images wern't pixalated

Playing

this is another girl i used in my shoots. she was easier to photogrpah as i felt more relaxed around her however she didnt manage to produce the smoke how id been using before, so, essentailly i had to attempt to teach her to smoke. this was another learning curve for me & working with people. i have selected a few images i liked & that u can see myself edidting.

Options

i have also looked into another image which may work well as a final piece. this one is alot more subtle as an individual image and does show more the glamour side i am after. i have had issues with editing where the image has switched from NEF to Jpeg in my editing software. so this isnt my final piece. i have also had to consider the ways in which i may print & the size. in a test shot i printed i used A2 however it seemed lost in a white wall. I think i want to process a larger scale image depending on the success of the editing.

Final Ideas

i began editing my images & came across a few issues: for example i used certain settings which created an orange glow within my photos. this hadnt been evident on screen but once printed for test shots it was too visable. A few images with this orange glow seemed to work well as a series: however the glamour side appeared to become more seedy. The images i had selected had an ambient lighting, and the orange glow created a feel as if the photo had been taken on a disposable camera & the glamour look of the models became a sort of like a soft pornography. i feel this was emphasised by selection: i had the girls with the most make up & looking into the camera in a kind of seductive way.
i think these images work well as four together. o

Final..

to further my project i have had to decide where i wanted to go & what i needed to portray. As form of progression i decided to focus on using girls as my subject focus. This came about through my research into film stills; throughout, i have always been drawn to how women smoke, the glamourisation. i have tried to recreate this theme in the following images. i have narrowed down a few which i will edit. it was hard to work with subjects i hadnt used before, to direct them & use the right environment proved difficult. It was demanding but i learnt a lot.

Incense

my images of smoke using insence; ive enjoyed focusing specifically on the smoke & not just the person behind the smoke. interlinking the both is fascinating. i looked into different editing techniques too..
