i came across the work of anthony amos in one of the gallerys. His work captured my eye because of the oil & bitman he mainly uses, it created a very dark feel and mood within the pieces, i loved that there was limited colour and the hazyness it created.
His preferred material was the sea-the working shipyards, scrap yard ships and fishing boats that had seen a lot of life on the sea.He is inspired by all things to do with the weather and colours of the atmosphere. His love of outdoor life has given him a unique feel for interpreting the many moods of his environment by the sea.His studio does not contain a single paintbrush – abandoning the use of brushes, he now works with rags and fingers, experimenting with scraps of material and card, all of which bring different textures and intrigue to his work, along with a great immediacy to his paintings.
