group work-the beginning

this is my first posting of my blog- i've never done one before, so im not so sure what im suppose to do!
29th September 09
Today was the day we started our first group projects for interactive arts. Our tutor, Hazel, put us in random groups; to give chance to mingle and make new friends. Initially we were all given an artist to focus on, ours was Jean Tinguely- luckly i wasn't the only one who had know idea who he was....
with each artist we had to find a link and create refreshments, costume, entertainment, decortaions and create an atmosphere.
we researched into tinguely, whom is a swiss born 1925-1991, he was part of the dada movement and was a painter& sculptur. the painitngs he made were mainly with mixed media and bright, whilst his sculpturs were completely different made from rubbbish, such as car parts and were very dull. He seemed to be a performing artist making some of his work kinetic an one piece, 'Homage to New York' self distructed itself within 27minutes.
after research we had ideas. for backgrounds we found old tires& bolts which we scanned and photocopied. These were stuck all over the walls. as a foreground we hung up papermache ballons which represented the bright colourful faces he has made, we filled each of them with swiss chocolate and tissue so when the were hit colour was suppose to 'explode' out!
we used erry sort-of music which i found by dusty kid called lynchesque.
each group had to do the same thing with their artists& at the end of it all we all had a party, saw each others work. was good fun& got people talking.
