this is the first time iv began a blog, so it's written very poorly& in the wrong orders& probabaly doesn't make sense to many people. but iv been told to do one!
Im Keri, im 19 and have just began an interactive arts course at MMU University. im going to tell you about myself......
Art to me means capturing moments in time, exploring feelings and provoking emotions. This is what inspires my creativity. I have always enjoyed drawing and painting and was most definate about studying Art at A level and after. I quickly realised that my knowledge and understanding of the subject was quite limited and during the course i have explored a wide range of media and techniques. i particularly like creating textures and working with mixed media.
Iam eager to investigate other disciplines such as photography, textiles and sculpture which i touched on in college. I also want to know about different eras and genres and develop my skills and discover what i am capable of. i love standing in front of a piainting. it can be emotional as though entering a different world. i always feel inspired after a gallery visit. I also enjoy reading about artists and designers i admire.
College was a success for me, although i lost interest at one point and my work level dropped, i managed to pull through and create a beautiful final piece on the sea, which i'd also done in my Alevel; A theme i loved, which i managed to expand on. Both peices proved to me i could really do art and paint if i put my mind to it. my btec piece was exhibitoned in the green room but unfortunately i never got the chance to see it & some one wanted to buy it....but they never got back to me!
But what interstest me the most is photography, i love it. due to short time in college i never really managed to focus on photography as much as i wanted to. it was something i mainly did in my free time. i had a decent camera until it got broken.... i use to take it everywhere with me, especially to clubs where i took photos of people around me and the lighting and just captured the atmosphere.
i once worked for the company 'tilllate.com' where you go to clubs and take pictiures of people- its a well known company and it helped me understand certain ways in which i should take pictures. id love to build upon my exhisting knowledge about photography and expand on what i touched on in college.
